Welcome to Carrel Books

In 2014, Skyhorse Publishing announced Carrel Books, a new imprint featuring titles for the public library market.  The Carrel list includes categories of most interest to libraries, including medicine/health, history, biography/memoir, business/careers, and more.  Carrel titles are available to libraries and all other customers in both print and ebook editions.

When the imprint was founded, Tony Lyons, Skyhorse president and publisher, commented, "We appreciate the support we've received from librarians and the wholesalers that supply them. Without their support, our recent growth would have been impossible. With an imprint whose editorial and marketing team focuses on the needs of librarians and library patrons, we expect further growth and an even closer working relationship with the library community."

Carrel Books offers an eclectic mix of titles in terms of subject areas, but each book is tailored to the needs of librarians and their patrons: authoritative, well-written, and accessible.

About Carrel

Skyhorse Publishing was launched in September 2006 by Tony Lyons, former president and publisher of the Lyons Press, and its first titles were published in March 2007. As of Winter 2015, the company has had thirty-three New York Times bestseller.  Lyons talked to dozens of potential investors, all of whom asked the same question: "Can a new book publishing company make it in the current environment?" His response remains: "Succeeding as an independent publisher is not going to be easy, but by scouring the country for genre books that large publishers ignore, resurrecting forgotten classics, and by moving both more quickly and with greater attention to detail than other publishers, I believe we can flourish."

Skyhorse—with its thirteen imprints (Allworth Press, Arcade Publishing, Carrel Books, Gary Null Publishing, Good Books, Helios Press, Hot Books, Night Shade Books, Not For Tourists, Sky Pony Press, Sports Publishing, Talos Press, Yucca) now boasts a backlist of more than 6,000 titles. Since its founding, Skyhorse has published an eclectic and maverick list that includes books on history, politics, rural living, humor, and more. With its imprints, the Skyhorse program now includes business, art, fiction, regional books, and children's books.

Skyhorse is distributed by Two Rivers Distribution (formerly Perseus Distribution) in the United States and overseas and also by Thomas Allen & Son in Canada.
